Coiste Bunaithe Phortlaoise
Tá tuismitheoirí i Laoise tar éis feachtas a thosnú chun Gaelcholáiste a bhunú i bPortlaosie. Níl aon soláthar don oideachas meánleibhéalach trí mheán na Gaeilge i bPortlaoise. Faoi láthair, an da ghaelcholáiste is congaraí ná Nás na Ríogh agus Ceatharlach.
Tá Coiste Bunaithe Phortlaoise ag obair in éineacht le Gaelscoil Phortlaoise, An Foras Pátrúnachta, Gaelscoileanna Teo agus na gaelscoileanna eile sa chontae.
Bíonn cruinniú ag an gCoiste go rialta agus tá fáilte roimh cách.
Táimid ag obair go dian ar son oideachas ár bpáistí ionas go mbeadh a oideachas trí mheán na Gaeilge.
Níl amhras ar bith ach go ndéanann sé ciall go mbeadh Meánscoil lán-Ghaelach bunaithe i bPortlaoise.

Parents in Laois have formed a committee to campaign for a Gaelcholaiste / Secondary school taught through the medium of Irish, to be established in Portlaoise over the coming years. There is no provision for second level education through the medium of Irish in Portlaoise. At present, the nearest schools of such kind are located in Naas, Co.Kildare and Co.Carlow.
The committee, ‘Coiste Bunaithe Phortlaoise’ are working closely with Gaelscoil Phortlaoise, A Foras Pátrúmachta, Gaelscoileanna Teo and also other gaelscoileanna in the surrounding Laois area.
The committee holds regular meetings and invite all members of the public to attend to voice opinions, offer advice etc. If you want to help us please make contact.
We parents feel passionate about our children carrying on their education through the medium of the Irish language right into second level.
There is no doubt it makes sense to have an Irish Secondary established in Portlaoise
